Moment of Silence

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Before I take this blog any further, I would like to observe a moment of silence for the 828,000+ people (and counting) around the world who have died from Covid-19. This includes many great musicians such as Wallace Roney, Ellis Marsalis, Lee Konitz, Henry Grimes, Bucky Pizzarelli, Alex Layne, Nick Cordero, Trini Lopez, Dave Greenfield, Troy Sneed, DJ Mike Huckaby, Fred the Godson, John Prine, Adam Schlesinger, Joe Diffie, Matthew Seligman, Alan Merrill, Manu Dibango, Eddy Davis, and DJ Black N Mild. May this writing serve as a sobering reminder of the seriousness of this virus, and may we also offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who have been affected around the world.

I would also like to observe silence for the many great musicians who died this year for reasons other than Covid-19: Jimmy Cobb, Charli Persip, Jimmy Heath, Claudio Roditi, Little Richard, McCoy Tyner, Neil Peart, and Bill Withers.

If there is anyone I forgot, please include them in the comments.  I did a bit of research, but am not aware of every musician who has been affected by this virus, and probably have forgotten many people, but would like to honor as many people as possible.  Thank you.
